My Favorite Homeschool Resources

Amazon.com – This one seems a little obvious, but I always check Amazon to see if I’m getting a good price.  It also helps with digital books or used books.  I became an affiliate with them, to help with the costs of my blog.  Using my link helps me keep my blog going, but doesn’t change your already low prices!

ApologiaThis is my go-to for Science and some Bible resources.  I have been impressed with everything I have used.

All About Learning PressThe All About Spelling & All About Reading programs are the most comprehensive that I have seen!  These are fantastic for kids just starting out, or remedial work for older kids.

Schoolhouse Teachers – This completely online schoolhouse includes programs for everyone in the family, and it is so affordable!  They keep one price (monthly or yearly plans available) and the whole family can use it!

Homeschool Planet This is a completely online teacher/student planner and tracker.  You can plan your homeschool, keep track of completions, grades, and other to-do items.  It is definitely the best one I have seen!

We Choose VirtuesThis is my favorite character study program to date.  I have used it with my own kids and in other groups I’ve worked with.  I’ve used the elementary program and the teen program and I love it all!

SKraftyThis is also an online school that does classes with some well-known curriculum.  What sets this apart is it’s use of Minecraft!  It uses the game, Minecraft, to reinforce lessons and give students a very safe place to play on its own monitored server.

Homeschool Buyers Co-opGetting group deals on homeschool tools is not easy, unless you are part of this co-op!  You can find some great deals when going in with other families in the co-op.  They have deals on programs for every grade and subject!

Help for Learning Challenges

All About Learning PressAll About Spelling & All About Reading were developed for children that had dyslexia and other learning challenges that effected reading and spelling. We used All About Spelling as a remedial program for my middle schooler.  By the time we completed all the levels, he was on grade level!

Learning SuccessThis program gives you helps and a program that you can implement from your own home!  There are several free screening resources on their site as well.

Life of FredA completely different approach to teaching math, Life of Fred teaches math concepts in story form. The short “your turn to play” at the end of each chapter allows students to practice the concepts learned.  We used it with our son and were surprised that it completely caught him up to speed and his standardized math score improved!

Homeschooling with Dyslexia – You can teach your kids with dyslexia

Audio books  Many curriculum providers include audio versions of textbooks.
Audible.com is a subscription service through amazon for purchasing audio books.
